Several years ago we have already helped to Danil and his family. His sister Mira, 8 y. o., was born with an abnormal urinary system. Her kidney was removed 3 years ago, the second one requires a treatment. This treatment has to be postponed, since the collection for the treatment of Danil is not over yet.
For 8 years, parents have been fighting for life and health of their children. They spend most of their time in hospitals: the mother with the daughter, the father with the son.
Danil was born healthy, but, at the age of 9, he was diagnosed with the cancer of the left femur with lung metastases. The way to recovery was long and difficult: 20 courses of chemotherapy, a surgery to remove the tumor (together with the bone), two surgeries to remove metastases from the lungs, a surgery to enlarge the prosthesis. He survived a relapse. An endoprosthesis has been installed, but this prosthesis was for an adult, so the boy’s knee has swelled and did not bend.

When his healthy leg grew by 7 cm, Danil was fitted with a new German growing prosthesis MUTARS® Xpand, which was supposed to equalize the difference in leg lengthes. However, when the prosthesis was installed, a part of the bone crumbled, so the leg remained of almost the same length as before the operation. Soon after the installation, a huge fistula was formed at the site of the suture on the knee. It was caused by staphylococcus bacteria, and has literally began to corrode his leg. In Ukraine, they can only propose the amputation. The parents brought Danil to a specialized clinic in Munich. For 2 years, Danil underwent 5 surgeries and many procedures to save the leg. Now Danil is in normal health, his body is ready for installing a new prosthesis, so he can walk without crutches. Since Danil has temporary structures in the leg that are not intended for long-term use, he is now prohibited from any physical activity, even walking. So there is a threat of muscle atrophy. One cannot delay the prosthetics surgery: it is scheduled for March 24, 2021. About EUR 42,000 have already been raised. It remains to collect another EUR 1,700.Diagnosis: cancer of the left femur.
