\"\"<\/a>MARIA SHUT<\/strong>, 1 y. o., Minsk region, Belarus.
\nDiagnosis: retinoblastoma (cancer of the right eye).
\nWhen Maria was only 1.5 months old, the doctors have discovered peripheral dystrophy of both eyes cauased by a cytomegalovirus infection, as well as retinoblastoma in the right eye. The girl underwent a course of chemotherapy. She spent much time on intravenous therapy. The family turned to the Swiss clinic Jules Gonin, that has specialized equipment not available in Belarus and a positive experience with treating retinoblastoma in young children. At the moment, Maria has already undergone a part of the treatment: several injections of the drug Melfolan into the eye , thermo- cryo-, and two chemotherapy courses. The treatment must be continued, and the family requires financial assistance.
\nThe bill for the continued treatment comes to CHF 49,950.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\n\"\"<\/a> VALERIYA SEMENOVA<\/strong>, 1 y. \u043e., Moscow region, Russia.
\nDiagnosis: retinoblastoma
\nDuring a preventive examination, the girl was found to have a formation that required more thorough inspection. The parents went to an ophthalmology clinic and, unfortunately, have received the confirmation that the formation was a stage 2, group D retinoblastoma. In Russia, Valeria has undergone three courses of chemotherapy and two intravitreal injections into the eye. But the doctors did not give any positive forecasts. The family turned to the Swiss clinic Jules Gonin , where the doctors said they could save both the eye and vision. By December, a part of the treatment was completed. But there is still a long way ahead. The family now needs help to pay the bill of CHF 78,000.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a> SOFIA KOSTROVA<\/strong>, 7 y. o., Minsk, Belarus.
\nDiagnosis: bilateral retinoblastoma (retinal cancer).
\nAt the age of 3 months, Sofia was diagnosed with retinoblastoma. The girl underwent a long-term treatment, but her left eye could not be saved: it was removed. The right eye was cured, but after 5 years of remission there was a relapse and a tumor formed. The location of the tumor – near the optic nerve – was very difficult to deal with. Doctors in Belarus gave disappointing forecasts. The parents turned to the Swiss clinic Jules Gonin to famous Professor Mounier. After a series of three chemotherapy treatments, the tumor has stopped growing. The treatment ended in April 2023. However, in September the active cells have been detected again. Thanks to the timely diagnosis followed by chemotherapy course, the growth was stopped without consequences for the vision.
\nNow the situation is stable, but Sofia has a rare case that requires scrupulous monitoring. She has already lost one eye, so the parents and doctors are trying to save the remaining eye and the child\u2019s vision. To continue the treatment at the clinic, CHF 38,135 is required\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nALEXANDER PROVOTOROV<\/strong>, 10 y. o., Gatchina, Russia.
\nDiagnosis: anaplastic ependyoma of the 4th ventricle (oncology).
\nOur long-time care-receiver Alexander needs help in purchasing a device to adjust his shunt. Since the shunt was installed in Germany, a suitable device must also be purchased here. It costs EUR 900, we need to collect the remaining EUR 400.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\"\"<\/a> SABA BALABANOV<\/strong> (baptismal name Savva), 14 y.o., Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.
\nDiagnosis: Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
\nSaba was our care-receiver from 2021 to 2023, when he battled hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and severe hematological disease, and epilepsy, the secondary disease to HLH. He has managed to deal with these illnesses. But in January of this year, Saba was diagnosed with cancer.
\nWhen Saba was diagnosed with HLH, he was a 4th grade student at the Nizhny Novgorod Orthodox Gymnasium named after Sergius of Radonezh, a co-host of the Conversation with Priest<\/em> program on the Nizhny Novgorod Orthodox radio Obraz<\/em>. Since November 2019, he was treated in clinics of Istanbul and spent a total of 11 months in intensive care. Saba has undergone 2 brain shunts, two courses of dialysis to restore his kidneys, 14 courses of plasmapheresis to restore the liver function, drainage of the lungs and abdominal cavity, and the tracheostomy surgery. Saba was intubated twice.
\nNow he is being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He has completed 2 courses of chemotherapy. There are still 9 months of treatment ahead. The clinic issued an invoice for the treatment. This is a big additional expense. The family does not have that amount, while it is very important that Saba’s treatment is not interrupted. They require EUR 60,600.\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
