We have now a list of 7 children with different wounds: shell fragments in spinal channel, skull fractures, amputated arms and legs, damaged eyes etc. We are trying to find chargeless or discounted medical treatment and rehabilitation for these kids.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> This is a tough work requiring extra efforts. If you wish to offer your time and vigour for a war-torn child to recuperate and to get back a trust to this world &#8211; please, write or call to me! We do need people for contacts with press and for correspondence with German hospitals. We do need funds: firstly, for transportation, then for prostheses and rehabilitation.<\/span><br \/>\n<!--more Keep reading--><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Not every wounded child needs to go to Europe for a treatment. We are grateful to our aid workers that decided to sponsor them for long terms. Anybody who is ready to support a concrete family in Ukraine, Belarus or Russia with up to \u20ac 200 per month during 3-6-12 months is welcome to contact me for a detailed information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">In March, Diakonia is supporting 24 children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">Current news:<\/span><!--more--><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong> Sasha and Pasha Stanukevish<\/strong>, cerebral palsy, 6 y.o. require \u20ac 7200 for orthesis and rehabilitation braces. We are thankful to the members of St. Panteleimon parish in Cologne and parish in Bremerhaven that housed the children and their mother, and to our coordinators in these cities who have insured the efficiency of their attendance of the hospitals. There are results: the priority now are orthesis for correct development of the muscles.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Diana Tamasyan from Novorossiisk<\/strong>, neuroblastoma, 11 y.o. requires \u20ac 6000 for consultations in Greifswald hospital.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><strong>Yana Labun from Abakan<\/strong>, 4 y.o, needs to get to Bonn hospital for heart surgery. A German charity fund will pay for the treatment. Yet funds are required for the trip and medicine: all about \u20ac 1000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\">We thank the Munich group, the most active group of our organization! The guys support many children and even involve people from other cities.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> We thank the members of Regensburg parish who on a short note manage to efficiently host a little one who came for a surgery. They also supported the mother in the harsh time of her child being between life and death.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> My respect and gratitude goes to the friends from &#8220;moscow oase&#8221; for their response and help to a cancer-hit child and his mother in St. Petersburg. I am happy we are in the same boat!<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> Let me conclude with a direct quotation: I give the monthly report of one of our coordinators in Germany. (I&#8217;ve slightly edited it for privacy considerations).<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 36pt;\">\u201c<\/span>At the date of March 16, 2015 we support 8 children.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> All these children undergo neuroblastoma treatment following the individual schedules. This is a long and painful path that is rife with side effects on chemical and other methods of the therapy.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> Their families dwell in the guesthouse of the Uniklinik hospital. They get well together, they support each other and make fanstastic birthday celebrations with cakes, games and clowns.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> The big problem is that the kids do not study. Although there is a school in the hospital, their illness is too much of a burden. It becomes increasingly difficult to catch up with the school program. Yet now the main goal is to survive. Sometimes our voluntary aid workers manage to teach them.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> All children have enjoyed the Carnival celebrations. There were many interesting events in the hospital as well as in the guesthouse. We took older children to a very special festivity: the last Carnival night.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> Many parents at this time truly turned to Church. The parents of the girls A. and L. have recently performed the sacrament of marriage in our church. All children receive Communion every week, they do it more often if in a severe state. They come to church services.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> As to fund raising: one of the families is in a persistent need, others hope for help from Russian charity funds. At the moment all funds we collect go to this family to pay their hospital debts and just to provide subsistence.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"> Recently we have assisted the family of 10 m.o. baby V. to consult Prof. S. from the Uniklinik. The data on his neuroblastoma have been reviewed in the hospital, and the concilium has concluded that medics in Moscow provide the optimal treatment.
