Since the meeting was held in Germany, most of the participants came from German cities: Berlin, Munich, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Bonn, Dortmund, Wiesbaden, Baden-Baden, Stuttgart and others.<br \/>\nThe Day was organized by the Russian Orthodox Diakonia in Europe &#8220;Good Deed&#8221;, an organization established in March 2012 under the direction of Alina Titova. Every year Diakonia helps to about 40 sick children who come for a medical treatment in Europe from the countries of former Soviet Union. The organization is active in the various areas of social service: the interaction with German clinics and funds (<span lang=\"nl-NL\">D<\/span>iakonia <span lang=\"nl-NL\">mediates the financial support of <\/span>German fund<span lang=\"nl-NL\">s<\/span> and private donors <span lang=\"nl-NL\">to cover <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">medical expense<\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">s<\/span> for a total amount of about <span lang=\"nl-NL\">EUR 20,000<\/span> per year), <span lang=\"nl-NL\">supplying<\/span> medical equipment, volunteer training, spiritual and psychological support, meetings with the priests, organization of <span lang=\"nl-NL\">charity <\/span>fairs <span lang=\"nl-NL\">and events<\/span>, translations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"ru-RU\" align=\"justify\"><a name=\"result_box1\"><\/a> <span lang=\"en-US\">Representatives of local dia<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">konic<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> groups of \u201c<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Good Deed\u201d<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and colleagues from other volunteer organizations <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">have <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">exchanged <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">their <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">experiences and discussed issues and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">problems<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> relat<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ed<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> to the care of patients, interact<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ion of volunteers<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> with each other, the organization of the volunteer movement in the parishes and the spiritual <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">dimension<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> of the volunteer service. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The archpriests <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Ilya Limberger (Stuttgart), Nikolai Zabelich <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">(<\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">Munich) <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and Nikolai Artemo<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ff (<\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">Munich) have actively participated in discussions <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">and answered the questions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"ru-RU\" align=\"justify\"><a name=\"result_box2\"><\/a> <span lang=\"en-US\">A<\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">n especially<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> significant <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">moment <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">for all participants of the <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">Day<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> was the arrival of Bishop Panteleimon of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Service. <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">It is the second year the bishop<\/span> <span lang=\"nl-NL\">takes part <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in the event. In a <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">conversation<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> with the volunteers, Bishop Panteleimon <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">has <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">paid <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">special attention to the <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">significance<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> of suffering in <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">earthy<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> life and called for volunteers for <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">sacrificial love for the neighbor: &#8220;You <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">should not shut yourself off<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. If our spiritual life is only limited to prayer, fasting and the observance of religious <\/span><span lang=\"nl-NL\">rites<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> &#8211; this is only the outward doing that is not always useful for our soul. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Only<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> if we <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">donate<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">our<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> time and energy <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">to<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> those who need our help, we w<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ould<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> fully fulfill the second commandment of Christ &#8211; love thy neighbor as thyself. It is this love <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">will save the world. &#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" lang=\"ru-RU\" align=\"justify\"><a name=\"result_box3\"><\/a> <span lang=\"en-US\">On Sunday <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">July 3<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">rd<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">volunteers and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">their pastors<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> prayed <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">together <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">at the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors Russian and St. Nicholas. After the service, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the summary of<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Orthodox Volunteer Day <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">has been presented <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and the main <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">goals<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and objectives for the development of volunteering in Europe <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">have been formulated<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>In accordance with the tradition to hold <\/i><\/span><i> <\/i><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>the Orthodox Volunteer Day at the first Saturday in July, the next Day will take place on July 1<\/i><\/span><sup><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>st <\/i><\/span><\/sup><span lang=\"ru-RU\"><i>, <\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>2017.
