MAY 2017

Dear friends, thank you for your help!
In April we managed to:
-financially support Danja Ilychenko, 6 yo, anaplastic ependymoma, from Svyatogorsk, who has bravely fought for several years against cancer – at the moment he is in the reanimation department of the clinic of Donetsk;
-organise the travel of Andrej Dmitriev, 10 yo, spine injury, Donetsk, to the clinic in Bonn for his operation (a particular thank you to Aeroflot for the free flight!) and to cover his living costs throughout the time of the operation;

-collect 1090 euros at the charity ball, organised by the Diakonia group of Berlin, for the treatment of Yaroslav Andreev from the Kaluga region;
-transfer around 60kg (9 stones) of medicaments to the children neurosurgery department of the regional children’s hospital in Odessa – thank you to the volunteers of Saarbrucken and Wiesbaden for the smooth cooperative work!
-gift the ill children, which our diakonia group of Cologne is in charge of, a trip to the zoo;
-purchase and transfer life-supporting medicaments to Artem Mesheryakov, 6 yo, erythroderma, in Moscow;
-support the family of Ilya Soldatov, 1.5 yo, unknown diagnosis, who arrived at the clinic of Heidelberg for a diagnostic – thank you to all our volunteers and Good Deed friends from Frankfurt to Karlsruhe, who took an active part in this!
In May, we hope to be able to support these children with your help:

Darya Ulzutueva, 5 yo, Irkutsk region, fourth stage neyroblastoma, recidivism. Darya fell ill when she was 3 years old. The first year the girl was treated in Russia, but after a short remission the recidivism started and she had to be transferred to Germany, as the Russian doctors were only able to offer palliative care and nothing more. The clinic in Greifswald agreed to take her in. The first stage of the treatment – intensive chemotherapy and treatment with antibodies- turned out to be very effective. The planned next step is MIBG-therapy. The doctors estimate that she has a good chance for a full recovery if the treatment would be completed.
The mother is raising Darya and her older sister by herself, and despite her only income being her disabled person pension she does not think that she has the right to refrain from fighting for the life and health of her daughter.
In order to save the child, EUR 382,250 euros are needed. Through social networks and foundations, EUR 54,400 have been raised so far. EUR 327,850 remain to be collected.
Nikolae Barbus, 9 months, heart disease, from Romania. The first month of his life the infant spent in the hospital, received 7 heart operations and a dilatation (widening of the aorta). Since September he and his family are fighting for his life in the university clinic of Mainz. All the financial resources have been depleted, but the fight lying ahead is long and tough. From the mother’s letter:
“We also have a twelve year old daughter, who enrolled at a german school two weeks ago. Since the first of April we are renting a flat, which we found with God’s help through the Romanian Orthodox church in Berlin, our church back in Romania and thanks to a staff member at the intensive therapy clinic, who wasn’t indifferent to our situation. At the present moment we have no income. We would be very happy if someone could offer my husband a job.”
We ask sponsors, who are ready to take the family under their care, to get back to us, while the help from the German government is awaited and the head of the family is looking for solutions to the financial problems. For living costs and rent the family of little Nikolae needs 400 euros monthly.

On the 30th of June at 7pm, in Berlin, as part of the Day of the Volunteer, in the Russian House of Science and Culture (Friedrichstraße 176-17, Berlin) a CHARITY CONCERT will take place. Everyone is invited! The programme showcases pieces by 17th-20th century European composers. The performers will be coming from different countries – volunteers and friends of the GOOD DEED.
At 6pm in the foyer of the Russian House there will be an exhibition of children’s books’ illustrations on biblical themes as well as photographs upon the theme of the Russian life of Karelia.
All of the raised money will be used for the treatment of our children!

You can book tickets on our website www.orthodiakonia.de/tickets-konzert2017/, per email at info@orthodiakonia.de , and at Eventbrite.

We would be very appreciative if you could share this event!

HURRY TO DO GOOD!
Warm hugs,
Alina Titova
