MARCH 2021

Dear friends, thank you for your support. In February, we have helped to secure support from a German charity fund for a surgery at a Bonn clinic for Milana Volkova, 3 y.о., Vladimir, Russia, heart disease; transferred money for the treatment of Andrei Turov, 4 y.o., Barnaul, Russia, Ewing’s sarcoma; paid for and delivered a special bicycle for Vasilisa Degtyareva, 3 years old, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, Volgograd region, Russia; supported financially Eldar Eldarov, 16 y.o., cerebral palsy, Chechnya; paid for the rehabilitation course for Artem Kashira, 23 y.o., Tula region, traumatic brain injury.

This month, we have a plenty of urgent cases. Our help is awaited by:

Ilya Rusetsky, 21 y.o., Polotsk, Belarus.
Diagnosis: acute myeloid leukaemia.
Ilya is a 4th year university student, he studies information technology. It all started with what seemed to be a common cold, in January this year. The blood tests detected the cancer cells in rapidly increasing amounts. Ilya was diagnosed with acute leukaemia. Ilya is in serious condition at the moment, but there is still a chance of recovery. The cancer of this type is quite rare. The successful treatment requires several courses of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. German clinics have much positive experience with the treatment of such diseases. The family is doing everything possible to raise the funds required as soon as possible. The rescuing of Ilya relies on this. The treatment and the bone marrow transplant cost around EUR 300,000.
Ekaterina Shamilova, 30 y.o., Orenburg, Russia.
Diagnosis: large-cell lymphoma.
Ekaterina began to feel bad after giving the birth to her daughter. At first, the health problem has been attributed to the postpartum state. Later it turned out that the young mother has a terrible disease: a cancer of the immune system. Ekaterina was treated in Russia. However, an effective treatment and the latest CAR T-cell therapy (T-lymphocyte transplantation) can only be carried out at a clinic in Dusseldorf, Germany. The therapy is very expensive , it costs EUR 450,000. Ekaterina is a young mother, a designer and a creative person. She is strives to overcome the disease, live and raise her daughter. While doctors are stabilizing her condition, her family and friends have already raised most of the money. It remains to collect EUR 14,000. We are in a hurry, time is running out!
Elizaveta Savelyeva, 12 y. o., Brovary, Ukraine.
Diagnosis: undifferentiated epileptic encephalopathy, autism.
There were no health problems till the age of 2, when Elizaveta has had her first seizure. For already 10 years, the doctors have been trying to get the seizures under control. The medication treatment has a short-term effect and does not stop the seizures completely. Unfortunately, the illness affect the development of the girl. Although Elizaveta attends a regular school, every year it becomes more and more difficult for her to keep up with the pace of the studies. Drawn by the difficulties, Lisa withdraws into herself, she ceases communications. Besides, each seizure can become the last one. Her mother is fiercely fighting for her daughter. A clinic has been found where they are ready to help Elizaveta. She is expected as soon as possible at Bambino Jesi clinic in Rome, Italy. The bill is EUR 6,000.
Danil Sirota, 17 y. o., Kiev, Ukraine.
Diagnosis: cancer of the left femur.
Several years ago we have already helped to Danil and his family. His sister Mira, 8 y. o., was born with an abnormal urinary system. Her kidney was removed 3 years ago, the second one requires a treatment. This treatment has to be postponed, since the collection for the treatment of Danil is not over yet.

For 8 years, parents have been fighting for life and health of their children. They spend most of their time in hospitals: the mother with the daughter, the father with the son.
Danil was born healthy, but, at the age of 9, he was diagnosed with the cancer of the left femur with lung metastases. The way to recovery was long and difficult: 20 courses of chemotherapy, a surgery to remove the tumor (together with the bone), two surgeries to remove metastases from the lungs, a surgery to enlarge the prosthesis. He survived a relapse. An endoprosthesis has been installed, but this prosthesis was for an adult, so the boy’s knee has swelled and did not bend.

When his healthy leg grew by 7 cm, Danil was fitted with a new German growing prosthesis MUTARS® Xpand, which was supposed to equalize the difference in leg lengthes. However, when the prosthesis was installed, a part of the bone crumbled, so the leg remained of almost the same length as before the operation. Soon after the installation, a huge fistula was formed at the site of the suture on the knee. It was caused by staphylococcus bacteria, and has literally began to corrode his leg. In Ukraine, they can only propose the amputation. The parents brought Danil to a specialized clinic in Munich. For 2 years, Danil underwent 5 surgeries and many procedures to save the leg. Now Danil is in normal health, his body is ready for installing a new prosthesis, so he can walk without crutches. Since Danil has temporary structures in the leg that are not intended for long-term use, he is now prohibited from any physical activity, even walking. So there is a threat of muscle atrophy. One cannot delay the prosthetics surgery: it is scheduled for March 24, 2021. About EUR 42,000 have already been raised. It remains to collect another EUR 1,700.

Matvey Belyakov, 10 y. o., St. Petersburg, Russia.
Diagnosis: congenital anomaly- absence of the fibula, short leg.
In his 10 years, Matvey has already undergone many operations. The treatment began in a clinic in St. Petersburg, and since 2018 Matvey has been undergoing a long-term treatment at Schön Klinik Vogtareuth, Germany. For 2 years from now, the boy has been using the Ilizarov apparatus for lengthening and correcting the deformation of the right leg. It is necessary to carry out a surgery to remove the device, undergo rehabilitation and make a permanent orthosis. This is a very important and long-awaited stage in the completion of the treatment and a hope for Matvey’s future. The family needs help with paying their the housing for 3 months. The cost is EUR 1200.
Ruslan Novikov, 9 years old, Belarus.
Diagnosis: severe planovalgus foot deformity, grade 3.
At birth, Ruslan has suffered hypoxia and hemorrhage. A small but strong man has coped with it. After a long-term treatment, he was discharged healthy. However, at the age of 8 months, he got a series of new diagnoses (delayed development, functional bicuspid valve, Proteus infection, severe planovalgus foot deformity). The difficult treatment and rehabilitation again — and again a good result: Ruslan began to walk! He attended a specialized kindergarten, enjoyed new friends and acquaintances. However, by the age of 5, Ruslan began to walk worse. To rescue his legs, they made an osteotomy of the right thigh , installed a plate and 6 bolts. Unfortunately, the operation did not put Ruslan on his feet. For 3 months he has been sitting in his wheelchair, he rarely goes outside and is depressed. The doctors in Belarus cannot make a diagnosis. The German doctors are ready to carry out the diagnostics to find the cause of the health deterioration, and the rehabilitation. The clinic is ready to accept the boy in the near future. However, the bill amounts to EUR 73,300.
Mark Badanin, 3 y. o., Minsk, Belarus.
Diagnosis: 4th stage hepatoblastoma (liver cancer) with lung metastases.
At the age of 2, Mark was diagnosed with liver cancer. The child has undergone 11 courses of chemotherapy in Belarus and a liver transplant operation. To avoid relapses, the Belarusian doctors have recommended to go abroad for the further treatment The parents went to the famous Saint-Luc clinic in Belgium.
However, after two courses of chemotherapy in the clinic, the child has developed serious complications. The doctors explained that the donor chosen for the transplant in Belarus was not quite suitable (a different blood type). Mark had to undergo two more operations to widen the clogged bile ducts, but this did not help. They had to perform a second liver transplant, now with a compatible donor. The little hero has endured everything, and now he continues to fight. The boy needs close medical supervision, rehabilitation, control and examination. For the operation in Belgium, funds for Mark has been collected throughout the world. Most of the costs have been paid for. But because of the complications arosen, the funds raised do not cover all the costs. It takes about EUR 10,000 more to complete the treatment. The bill must be paid in March.

HURRY TO DO GOOD!
I wish health to you all! Take care of yourself and your loved ones!
I embrace you heartily,
Yours Alina Titova
