DECEMBER 2023

Dear friends, the year is coming to the end. It was a difficult one, like the last few years in a row. Yet, thanks to you, it gives a hope. Thank you for remaining humans, for your help and support! Every human life and the health of every child remains important to us. In these dark times, we carry on with helping.
In November, we have helped with the purchase of medicine for Golovin Nikolai, Moscow, pancreatic cancer with metastases to the liver, and with fundraising for the treatment of 3 care-receivers of the Chance4Life charity foundation, Israel.

In this pre-Christmas month, our help is awaited by:

ANNA USTINOVA, 9 y. o., Vladimir region, Russia. Diagnosis: binocular retinoblastoma (retinal cancer).
Anna has a dangerous form of retinal cancer, that she has been fighting for several years. The girl went through many anesthesia and chemotherapy procedures, operations to restore vision and to prevent the spread of metastases. In 2018, a long-awaited remission came. But in October 2023 the disease had relapsed and the tumor began to grow rapidly again. The doctors in Moscow are inclined to remove the eyes. However, they can take her for a treatment at Jules Gonin hospital in Switzerland. All the funds available for the family have already been spent. EUR 45,000 more is needed.

SPARTAK PAZILOV, 8 y. o., St. Petersburg, Russia.
Diagnosis: spastic form of cerebral palsy, delayed psychomotor development.
As a result of a very difficult and long birth labor, the child has suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Spartak had spent almost a month in intensive care, but was able to recover. However, after a routine vaccination he began to show deterioration. Only at the age of 1.5 years was it finally possible to make a diagnosis.
After a rehabilitation at the Rodnik center, Spartak has begun to hold his head up, roll over, and hold his back. To ensure that the positive results do not disappear, regular rehabilitation courses at the center are required. For the next course, Spartak needs EUR 3,000. In addition, Spartak needs a new stroller, since the old one has fallen apart completely. The price of the stroller is EUR 3200.

VADIM MASYUK, 8 y. o., Volgograd, Russia.
Diagnosis: hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
Vadim needs a vital operation at the Charité clinic in Berlin. The operation costs EUR 70,200. The family does not have such funds, they need help

NIKITA SUPRUNOV, 10 y. o., Rostov region, Russia. Diagnosis: epilepsy.
Nikita has been suffering from epileptic seizures since the age of 6 months. Over eight years of his life, he underwent 40 EEG monitoring sessions, 6 MRI examinations under general anesthesia, and many other examinations that helped to exclude the genetic nature of the disease. Today the boy continues to have daily attacks. They come in a form of freezing, suspension, nodding, falling, tremors, blackouts and twitching of all limbs. A difficult to find anticonvulsant therapy – a combination of 3 drugs – prevents his condition from worsening. They need the drug Urbazon: 13 packs of 250 mg cost about 350 euros.

NEW YEAR GIFTS. In various cities and clinics in Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, as well as in the refugee camps, there are still many families with sick children who remain there on Christmas and New Year’s days. Good Deed volunteers try to give every child joy and hope. If you want to do New Year’s miracles with us, please write to us! You can send money, bring a gift, or volunteer to participate in the congratulations. More details to be found at orthodiakonia.de and dobromore.eu
