Charity Fair in Cologne, 17-12-2017

On December 17, on the premises of the church of St. Panteleimon in Cologne the traditional charity fair has been held. The students and teachers of the Children’s and Youth Center named after St. John of Shanghai, along with the volunteers of Diakonia “Good Deed”, have began the preparations for this pre-Christmas action yet in October. For two months, every Saturday and Sunday the creative workshops have been held, where the children made Christmas decorations and souvenirs for the fair: from wood, glass, felt and other materials, and also sewed and baked cookies. Even toddlers and preschoolers have participated in the preparations.

The fair was opened immediately after the Sunday Liturgy. The atmosphere was, as in past years, very nice and festive. The music of P.I. Tchaikovsky for the ballet “The Nutcracker” sounded. Our volunteers and students of the school greeted the guests with smiles, Glintwein, warm punch and various treats.

On the stand in front of the tents there were posters with information about the care-receivers of the Cologne Diakonia group, and their photos. This time, the funds were collected primarily for Dima Sh. from the Kemerovo region (9 years old, the diagnosis of “neuroblastoma relapse”) and Kamila K. from Vladikavkaz (7 years old, “neuroblastoma relapse”) who are now taking the long-term therapy courses in Cologne Uniklinik. In total, we have collected 1900 Euro.
