NOVEMBER 2023

Dear friends, a wonderful event took place on October 15-20- the DobroMore Psychological Conference. Every October we hold such a multi-day meeting, where the participants are psychologists, volunteers and our care-receivers. The format is unique, and the effect is amazing. The theme of the conference 2023 was “The ways to help yourself and others with a psychological trauma.”
Against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, the war in Israel, the constant battle for health and life in families with seriously ill children – this educational conference became warm support and a breath of fresh air for all participants.
Here are some reviews:

“At the conference, we talked about ways to help ourselves, we had an opportunity for a personal meeting with a psychologist. I remember with great warmth our evening meetings: the common circle and the communications afterwards. And of course the sea, the sun, delicious food in a cozy hotel were a wonderful addition to the conference.” “I learned a plenty of new things, met wonderful people. We worked with a psychologist for two days, so I gained self-confidence.”
«The conference was very good and important, since usually a volunteer stews in his own juice, and help is intended only for the wards. Here the emphasis was on volunteers: they were recognized as having the right not to be superhuman, to have their own difficulties and ask for help.»«I really enjoyed the conference that exceeded my expectations! I received a huge positivite charge, learned new techniques on how to support myself, praise and appreciate myself, how to replenish mental strength and correctly understand others..» «I met the real volunteers and felt like a part of a team of amazing talented people united by a common good cause.»

Thanks to all the participants of the conference, the professionals who prepared it, the sponsors who supported the project financially! Together we bring happiness back to people!

This month, our help is expected by:

VLADISLAV SCHEBLYKIN, 12 years old, St. Petersburg, Russia. Diagnosis: deformation of the musculoskeletal system.
Vladislav was born with an anomalously small leg. The doctors at local clinics only offered prosthetics and predicted a possible amputation. The mother hs found a surgeon in the USA who successfully corrects such pathologies. Vladislav has already had 3 successful operations, with the 4th ahead to remove the internal metal fixation. Thanks to kind people and the efforts of his loved ones, the funds for the operation have been raised. The operation is planned for December and will take place in Warsaw, at the Medicover Clinic (European branch of the Dr. Paley Institute). Vladislav and the family must live near the clinic during the operation. The family’s resources are completely exhausted, they need help to pay for housing. The cheapest option costs about 500 euros.
NIKITA SUPRUNOV, 10 years old, Russia, Rostov region. Diagnosis: epilepsy
Nikita has a severe uncurable form of epilepsy. He suffers from daily seizures. At an early age the boy could speak and walk, but has gradually lost these skills due to the illness. Now he only walks around wearing a helmet and holding somebody’s hand, because an attack could occur at any moment and he would fall. Nikita underwent a brain surgery to separate the hemispheres, but, unfortunately, this brought no improvement. In order to make the life easier for the child and his parents, Urbazon medicine is needed. The medicine can be purchased in Europe, but the family does not have the funds. They need EUR 350 euros for a medication course.
NIKOLAI GOLOVIN, Moscow, Russia. Diagnosis: pancreatic cancer with metastases to the liver. Help is needed in purchasing enteral nutrition and medication. A request from our colleague and care-receiver Irina, Nikolai’s daughter: “At the moment, doctors have prescribed the first line of chemotherapy, and to complete it you need enteral nutrition, since the father has lost a lot of weight and may not be able to endure the treatment. He needs the medicine tevagrastim to raise his blood counts. Our family is now in a very difficult financial situation: at first my youngest daughter has been suffered from cancer (bilateral neuroblastoma), then my younger sister and me were treated for breast cancer for a year.”
Irina is the founder of a volunteer movement to help a settlement at the monastery in Diveevo that is devoted to caring for the homeless and sick, bedridden elderly, and orphans. Now her family needs help. Please respond! For the first course, they need RUB 32,000-35,000 (about EUR 300).

Charitable Foundation Chance4Life, Israel
Our friends from Chance4Life foundation in Israel are in a difficult situation. Since 2013, the foundation’s volunteers have been helping families with children coming to Israel for treatment: buying basic necessities, food, clothing and toys, helping in purchasing medicines and raising funds for treatment, providing psychological support to families, visiting children in the hospital and at home, conduct various events and master classes. Now, due to the war in Israel, the number of donations has sharply decreased. This means that the fund does not have enough funds to support its beneficiaries. At the moment, 25 children who came to Israel for the treatment for oncology or other serious diseases are under the care of Chance4Life volunteers. Despite the air raid sirens and the martial law in the country, the team of volunteers continues to do a lot of work to support and help the families. Some of these families came to Israel from Ukraine. 4 families are in dire need of constant help with buying groceries. Previously, the food rations were purchased 2 times a month for more than 15 families, now only for those in dire need.
The children need to continue treatment, they cannot just go home.
So now the support of Chance4Life volunteers is especially necessary and important.
Monthly expenses for food assistance and medicine are about EUR 1,400.

HURRY TO DO GOOD!
I wish health to you all! Take care of yourself and your loved ones!
I embrace you heartily,
Yours Alina Titova
