Saba B.

We have helped (june 2024)

Age: 14 y. o.
Residence: Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
Diagnosis: Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Needs: treatment in Turkey
Funds to raise: EUR 60,600

Saba was our care-receiver from 2021 to 2023, when he battled hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a rare and severe hematological disease, and epilepsy, the secondary disease to HLH. He has managed to deal with these illnesses. But in January of this year, Saba was diagnosed with cancer.
When Saba was diagnosed with HLH, he was a 4th grade student at the Nizhny Novgorod Orthodox Gymnasium named after Sergius of Radonezh, a co-host of the Conversation with Priest program on the Nizhny Novgorod Orthodox radio Obraz. Since November 2019, he was treated in clinics of Istanbul and spent a total of 11 months in intensive care. Saba has undergone 2 brain shunts, two courses of dialysis to restore his kidneys, 14 courses of plasmapheresis to restore the liver function, drainage of the lungs and abdominal cavity, and the tracheostomy surgery. Saba was intubated twice.
Now he is being treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He has completed 2 courses of chemotherapy. There are still 9 months of treatment ahead. The clinic issued an invoice for the treatment. This is a big additional expense. The family does not have that amount, while it is very important that Saba’s treatment is not interrupted. They require EUR 60,600.

Alexander A.

We have helped to pay for the treatment (Oct 2024)

Age: 2 y. o.
Residence: Moscow, Russia
Diagnosis: binocular retinoblastoma
Needs: treatment in Switzerland
Funds to raise: EUR 10,600

At the age of 1 year and 1 month, Alexander was diagnosed with a terrifying condition—cancer of the retinas in both eyes. Thanks to your support last year, we managed to stop the tumor’s growth and save sight in one of Sasha’s eyes. However, retinoblastoma is a highly aggressive disease, especially dangerous in early childhood. To continue his treatment, Alexander regularly undergoes examinations and treatments at the Jules-Gonin clinic in Switzerland. These procedures are very costly, and the family once again needs help. They need to raise 10,600 euros to pay the latest invoice from the clinic.

Maria Sh.

We have helped to pay for the treatment (may 2024)

Age: 1 y. o.
Residence: Minsk region, Belarus
Diagnosis: retinoblastoma (cancer of the right eye)
Needs: treatment in Switzerland
Funds to raise: CHF 49,950

When Maria was only 1.5 months old, the doctors have discovered peripheral dystrophy of both eyes cauased by a cytomegalovirus infection, as well as retinoblastoma in the right eye. The girl underwent a course of chemotherapy. She spent much time on intravenous therapy. The family turned to the Swiss clinic Jules Gonin, that has specialized equipment not available in Belarus and a positive experience with treating retinoblastoma in young children. At the moment, Maria has already undergone a part of the treatment: several injections of the drug Melfolan into the eye , thermo- cryo-, and two chemotherapy courses. The treatment must be continued, and the family requires financial assistance.
The bill for the continued treatment comes to CHF 49,950.
